How To Choose Your Dosing Pump?

When choosing your dosing pump there are several factors that need to be considered. Below we have detailed some of these factors to make the process even easier for you.

Application Requirements

Firstly you need  to consider your application requirements and the environment the dosing pump will be used in. Our range of dosing pumps include pumps suitable for the following industries:

The reason why you need to consider the application and environment of your dosing pump is because there are several dosing pumps available and depending on what liquids you want to dose, and where the dosing pump will be sited, this will dictate the dosing pump model you require.

The table below shows the different dosing pumps available, detailing the flow rate and dosing tolerance per unit. For help choosing the correct dosing pump for your application, our technical team can help. Don’t hesitate to contact us for support with choosing your dosing pump today.

Water Flow Rate

Once you have confirmed the application, you need to consider the flow rate you want to operate at. We offer four different dosing pumps for each industry. We can supply dosing pumps which operate at different flow rates, from 0,005 m3/h up to a maximum of 3,00 m3/h.

For applications such as administering vaccines to livestock, a lower flow rate will be sufficient. For metalworking environments, where machine sumps need to be refilled as quickly as possible, a faster flow rate will be required. As an example the Mixtron MXO 1.125 dosing pump for metalworking fluids can accurately mix up to 2,500 litres per hour.

Dosing Pump Mount Location

You will also need to consider how you will mount your dosing pump. A great benefit to the Mixtron dosing pump range is that they are water powered, meaning no mains power is needed to operate the dosing pump. This means that the dosing pump can be installed on self-propelled vehicles, can be sited indoors or outdoors and doesn’t need to be sited near a power supply.

How to Set Up Your Dosing Pump?

Mixtron dosing pumps are quick and easy to install by one person, simply follow the below instructions for a successful installation.

Step 1:

Using suitable fixings, install the ‘Mounting Plate’ as per your desired set up, or if being used singularly; to the wall where the Mixtron dosing pump is to be used. If the additive is to be sited in a drum or tank underneath the dosing pump then, you will need to allow for this.

Step 2:

Place the dosing pump into the mounting plate and insert the wing nuts and tighten to secure in place. We recommend doing this by hand rather than using tools, so the wing nuts are not strained. Once the dosing pump is securely in the mounting plate, remove the protection caps on the inlet and outlet ports and also the plug that is blocking the additive suction.

Step 3:

Next, connect the dosing pump to the water supply line by using hoses with an internal diameter of 16mm. Secure this with clamps and swivel fittings ⌀ 20 x 27mm [¾”BSPT]Before you connect the supplied additive suction tube to the dosing pump, it is important that you place the necessary amount of Teflon onto the threaded side of the hose tail. Doing this will ensure the perfect seal
